Schools & Education

The original Chipley School was an addition to the schools of Washington County.  The school district was established in 1874 as the Berry Hill School # 14, with an appropriation of $22.50.  Trustees were J. Berry, V. Tharp, and J. H. Morris.

In 1879 the Berry Hill School became the Limestone Church. J. W. Brown was contracted to teach for three months at Limestone Church at a salary of $10 per month, provided the school show a daily attendance of 12 scholars. (See School History on History Page 2)
