Information On Burning In The City Limits

A permit is required for all open burning inside the city limits of Chipley. Open burning is defined as any fire on top of the ground. 
For small debris piles not exceeding 3’ x 3’, you can call City Hall at 638-6350 for a permit number. They will need your name and address.
Large debris pile in excess of 3’ x 3’ require a site inspection to be performed. For a site inspection call City Hall at 638-6350 to arrange a time that city personnel can come out and look at the site.
If you are burning in a covered container, (i.e. A drum with a metal screen over the top), you are not required to have a permit. If you have any questions concerning burning within the city limits, give us a call at 638-6301.
